World’s Largest Barbecue Franchise Adds New Texas Location

TYLER, Texas - Jan. 17, 2013 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - The moment you’ve all been waiting for has finally arrived—Dickey’s in Tyler will be opening on Friday, January 18 at 11 a.m. The first 100 customers will receive a free Pulled Pork Big Barbecue sandwich.

The excitement surrounding the opening comes after a month of overcoming many obstacles for the Huml family. Just last month, the couple’s newly wrapped catering van was stolen and used in an attempted ATM robbery. Fortunately, the vehicle was found and returned. This new location is located at 1501 West Southwest Loop 323 and the store phone number is 903-534-7073.

“Dickey’s is a very unique barbecue franchise,” said John Huml who owns and operates this location with his wife Nikki. “It feels like we’ve joined a family—we’ve received tremendous support from the corporate team and from our community. We’re thrilled to be opening.”

John Huml grew up in Arlington and his first job was at a barbecue restaurant. For the past 11 years, Huml has worked in processing and underwriting mortgage loans. He has been married to his wife Nikki for 13 years and they have two sons, Austin and Hayden.

“I met my wife in a barbecue restaurant and now we’re opening our own,” said Huml. “Things have really come full circle and we’re excited to serve up some authentic pit smoked barbecue to the Tyler community.”
