Jersey Mike’s Month of Giving: Quantum House

April 11, 2013 // Franchising.com // Jupiter, FL - Roberta H. Jurney, Executive Director, Quantum House cried when she learned that 13 Jersey Mike’s locations in the West Palm Beach/Fort Pierce area raised $47,000 for the organization during the sub shop’s 3rd Annual Month of Giving in March. Quantum House is a caring and supportive home that lessens the burden for families whose children are receiving treatment in Palm Beach County for a serious medical condition. All of the funds will go directly to Quantum’s Family Care Program.

“As an independent nonprofit, we rely solely on the generosity of the community,” said Jurney. “We are not a United Way agency, we receive no state or federal funding, so it’s our community partners who assist us in caring for the children and families that we serve. We can’t thank Jersey Mike’s enough for all that they do.”

During the month of March, customers were invited to come in to their local Jersey Mike’s restaurant and make a donation to a local designated charity partner. The campaign culminated in Jersey Mike’s “Day of Giving” on Wednesday, March 27, a nationwide event when 100 percent of the day’s sales were donated to each local charity partner.

“Once you walk into Quantum House, meet the families and people who work there and see how enthusiastic they are, you feel like you need to do something,” said Jersey Mike’s Area Director Greg McMenaman. This was the first year Jersey Mike’s partnered with Quantum.

The passion for helping the organization came through as the local franchisees and managers shared their excitement with customers. In fact, the restaurants in McMenaman’s area ranked #1 and #7 in the country when it came to the highest amount of customer donations raised during the fundraising initiative.

Quantum was fully behind the effort as well, sharing news about the initiative via e-blasts, Facebook, Twitter, the Quantum House web site, distributing flyers, news releases, conducting radio interviews and spreading the word at the local hospital where the home is located. On Day of Giving, Quantum House had volunteers and staff at each location to act as ambassadors for the House, speaking about their work and distributing information to customers.

Jurney, who met Jersey Mike’s Founder and CEO Peter Cancro at the Jupiter Jersey Mike’s Day of Giving event said, “What an inspiration! He is the true definition of ‘walking the walk,’ which is hard to find.”

She added, “Not only is Jersey Mike’s offering delicious food, Jersey Mike’s is changing lives through Month of Giving.”
