Owner Celebrates Grand Opening with Free Subs

April 11, 2013 // Franchising.com // Beavercreek, OH - Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, officially opened its doors in Beavercreek on April 10. Franchise owner Teddy Tolliver held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, April 10 to Sunday, April 14 to support Fisher House and United Rehabilitation Services.

The new restaurant, located at 3510 Pentagon Boulevard, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Fisher House and United Rehabilitation Services.

The Fisher House program is a unique private-public partnership that supports America's military in their time of need. The program recognizes the special sacrifices of our men and women in uniform and the hardships of military service by meeting a humanitarian need beyond what is normally provided by the Departments of Defense and Veterans Affairs. Because members of the military and their families are stationed worldwide and must often travel great distances for specialized medical care, Fisher House Foundation donates "comfort homes," built on the grounds of major military and VA medical centers. These homes enable family members to be close to a loved one at the most stressful of times – during hospitalization for an unexpected illness, disease, or injury.

The mission at United Rehabilitation Services (URS) is to enhance the quality of life for children and adults with disabilities or other special needs. URS was originally founded in 1956 as the Dayton Chapter of United Cerebral Palsy and is now providing services every day to more than 400 children and adults with Cerebral Palsy, Down syndrome, Muscular Dystrophy, Autism, Alzheimer’s, Pervasive Developmental Disorders and many other disabilities.

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.

Teddy Tolliver exemplifies Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised more than $5 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

"We are very excited about being in Beavercreek, and opening our second location in the Dayton area,” said Tolliver. “This grand opening fundraiser has given me the opportunity to work with two wonderful organizations that are committed to making a difference for our military families and helping adults and children with disabilities"

Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way™ with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature blend of olive oil, red wine vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.

This is the third Jersey Mike’s location for Teddy Tolliver. He joined Jersey Mike’s in May 2008 when he purchased an existing location in Centerville. Tolliver acquired an additional location in Cincinnati in May 2012.
