Mr. Rooter® Corporate President, Mary Thompson, Earns Plumbing License

Industry understanding and experience are key drivers for the Mr. Rooter president.

Waco, TX (PRWEB) April 15, 2013 - After more than 12,000 hours of industry experience and six months of technical preparation, Mary Kennedy Thompson, president of Mr. Rooter LLC, passed the West Virginia Journeyman Plumbing Exam, earning her plumbing license.

Thompson, who became president of Mr. Rooter in 2006, knew from the beginning that she wanted to earn her plumbing license.

“I researched the requirements and knew I would have to wait about six years in order to become qualified to sit for the exam,” said Thompson. “Once I reached the time prerequisite, I immediately applied for my opportunity to take the journeyman exam.”

Due to the limited hands-on plumbing experience Thompson possessed, in-depth concept studying became a necessity. “Because the majority of my training came from the book, I made sure I went to houses being built and observed the techniques and understood the procedures,” stated Thompson. “It was very important to me that I understood how much our plumbers are required to know to gain their license and appreciate the breadth of their trade knowledge.”

In addition to techniques and procedures, Thompson was required to know the codes and standards of the plumbing industry. “One would be surprised at the sheer number of codes and standards plumbers must know and abide by. The depth of knowledge our master plumbers hold is truly amazing.”
