Bojangles' Raises Record-Breaking Total - More than $446,000 - for Muscular Dystrophy Association

Charlotte, N.C. - Apr. 17, 2013 - Today Bojangles’ announced it has raised a record-breaking total – more than $446,000 – for the Muscular Dystrophy Association (MDA) during its 12th annual Shamrocks Against Dystrophy® in-store fundraiser, which will send over 550 children to MDA Summer Camp this year. This year Bojangles’ celebrates a 15-year partnership with MDA and is proud to have raised nearly $3 million over the years to help win the fight against neuromuscular disease.

From March 1 – 17, Bojangles’ customers were given the opportunity to support MDA by purchasing a green shamrock for $1 or a gold shamrock for $5. The fundraising program was offered at all company-owned Bojangles’ and participating franchise locations. Customers who purchased a shamrock were rewarded with a coupon for a free Bo-Berry Biscuit® – a Bojangles’ made-from-scratch buttermilk biscuit filled with blueberries, topped with a sweet icing drizzle.

“Bojangles’ continues to sponsor various MDA fundraisers all year long in an effort to support local research to find a cure for neuromuscular diseases,” said Bojangles’ President and CEO Randy Kibler. “We’re so appreciative of our generous customers who are just as passionate as we are about supporting such a great cause and a wonderful organization. MDA Summer Camp is a magical experience for so many and we’re thrilled to be able to send over 550 children to camp this year.”

The MDA Summer Camp offers children a wide range of activities specially designed for young people who have limited mobility or use wheelchairs. Although the camp is structured, programs are conducted in a relaxed atmosphere that gives campers an unmatched opportunity to develop lifelong friendships, share interests and build self-confidence.

“MDA is proud to call Bojangles’ a valued partner again this year,” said MDA Divisional Director, Theresa Miller. “We rely on the generosity of corporate supporters like Bojangles’ to help cover the costs of sending children to MDA Summer Camp every year. We’re grateful for their ongoing fundraising efforts and continued commitment to helping those with neuromuscular diseases.”
