Hooters Launches "Hooters for Heroes" Fundraising Program to Benefit Green Beret Foundation

Sailor Jerry and Miller High Life join the inaugural campaign, fundraising events.

ATLANTA - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Hooters of America, LLC, today announced its inaugural Hooters for Heroes™ fundraising initiative, a program designed to raise money and awareness for military non-profit organizations dedicated to U.S. veterans and their families. Hooters has established a relationship with the Green Beret Foundation as the official military cause partner for this year’s campaign.

Now through June 24, guests are encouraged to visit participating Hooters restaurants across the country to be a part of the fundraising effort and show support for our troops. Donations will benefit the Green Beret Foundation, a non-profit organization that addresses the needs of wounded, ill and injured members of the Special Forces community and their families and Killed in Action Green Beret families.

Guests are welcome to sip while they salute our troops. Sailor Jerry is a classic, high-quality spiced rum named after Navy veteran and father of old-school tattooing, Norman “Sailor Jerry” Collins. For every Sailor Jerry Rum beverage purchased at Hooters, $1 will go toward the Hooters for Heroes program.

In addition, Miller High Life will donate 20 cents for every red, white and blue can purchased at Hooters during the campaign. Hooters for Heroes camouflage wristbands are also available for a $1 minimum donation, while supplies last.

“For the past 30 years, Hooters has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for non-profit military organizations and lifted the spirits of our servicemen and women around the globe,” said Dave Henninger, chief marketing officer, Hooters of America. “The Hooters for Heroes program is a unique opportunity to build on the passion of our guests and employees as we foster a relationship with the Green Beret Foundation and support our military communities.”

In addition to collecting donations, several signature fundraising events will take place at Hooters locations across the country including parking lot parties, golf tournaments, car washes, bake sales and more.

Currently more than 18,000 Hooters Girls are competing in regional swimsuit contests for one of the 60 coveted spots in the 17th Annual Hooters International Swimsuit Pageant. This year, the pageant will be held in Las Vegas, where the brightest and most beautiful Hooters Girls from around the world will have a chance to win more than $100,000 in cash and prizes and represent Hooters as Miss Hooters International. The local and regional contests along “The Road to Vegas” serve as fundraising events for the Hooters for Heroes program.

In addition to fundraising efforts, Hooters is working with Green Beret Foundation in collaboration with GORUCK to host “War Stories and Free Wings” events at Hooters restaurants throughout the country. These events provide an intimate setting for Green Beret Foundation members and other servicemen and women to meet fellow veterans and heroes in their local communities, learn about services and resources available to them and enjoy an evening of great food and company.
