Baskin-Robbins Hosts "Cones for the Community" Event for Greater Toronto Area Shops on June 1

Baskin-Robbins to sell 2.5 oz ice cream scoops for 31¢ as part of campaign to thank guests and raise money for The Hospital for Sick Children

TORONTO, ONTARIO - (Marketwired - May 31, 2013) - Here's the scoop of the day: Baskin-Robbins, the world's largest chain of ice cream specialty shops, will sell 2.5 oz scoops of ice cream tomorrow for just 31¢ as part of a campaign to thank guests for their patronage and support one of the world's leading paediatric hospitals. The sweet discount will be offered on June 1st from noon to 5 p.m. at the 74 Baskin-Robbins locations in the Greater Toronto Area, along with balloon twisting, face painting and live entertainment at select participating locations. The event will also kick off a month-long fundraising drive to benefit SickKids Foundation, which raises funds on behalf of The Hospital for Sick Children (SickKids) in Toronto.

"We're proud of our more than 40 year heritage in Canada and are so grateful to our loyal guests in Toronto and its neighboring communities," said Bill Mitchell, President, Baskin-Robbins U.S. and Canada. "We're excited to give back to our guests with our 'Cones for the Community' celebration this weekend, and look forward to supporting the local community with our month-long fundraising drive to benefit SickKids Foundation."

As part of the "Cones for the Community" event, Baskin-Robbins franchisees throughout the Greater Toronto Area have donated $3,100 to SickKids Foundation and will collect in-store donations throughout the month of June to benefit the Foundation. Guests who make an in-store donation will be given a decorative paper cone on which to sign their name and post in their neighborhood Baskin-Robbins shop. The paper cones will serve as a visual that showcases the collaborated effort of the local community and Baskin-Robbins to bring health and happiness to children.

"We are grateful for the support we receive from partners like Baskin-Robbins, who help make our work in improving the lives of children possible," said Adrian Horwood, Vice President, Corporate Partnerships, SickKids Foundation. "The funds raised as part of the 'Cones for the Community' initiative will have a lasting impact on the wellbeing of children in our community and beyond."

The Baskin-Robbins "Cones for the Community" celebration will be taking place at participating shops in the Greater Toronto Area, including locations in Barrie, Brampton, Burlington, Cambridge, Hamilton, Kitchener, Markham, Mississauga, Oakville and Toronto.
