Jersey Mike's Subs Opens in Tualatin
Owners Celebrate Grand Opening with Free Subs
June 21, 2013 - Tualatin, OR - Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, officially opened its doors in Tualatin on June 12. Franchise owners Zack Heikkala and Billy Reeves held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, June 12 to Sunday, June 16 to support Friends of the Tualatin Library.
The new restaurant, located at 7698 S.W. Nyberg Road, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Friends of the Tualatin Library.
Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.
Friends of the Tualatin Public Library is a member-supported nonprofit organization that advocates, fundraises, and provides support for the Tualatin Library. The organization was formed in 2004 by a small group of dedicated library volunteers.
Heikkala and Reeves exemplify Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
“We are excited to open our doors and be a part of the Tualatin community,” said Heikkala. “After taking a tour of the Tualatin Public Library with Library Manager, Abigail Elder, it became apparent that this is something Jersey Mike’s would love to be a part of. The library is a great resource for the entire community and especially for children and teens. Through our five day grand opening fundraiser we will raise money to support Friends of the Tualatin Library to help fund special programs and new supplies for the community library.”

This is the second Jersey Mike’s location for Heikkala and Reeves. In February, they opened their first Jersey Mike’s location in Beaverton.
