Nation’s Largest Barbecue Chain Smokes the Competition

DALLAS - June 27, 2013 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Dickey’s Barbecue, the nation’s fastest growing restaurant concept, just sold its 500th franchise. The Dallas-based franchise currently has 312 locations open with another 200 in development.

Dickey’s Barbecue was founded by Travis Dickey in 1941. More than 70 years later, the family run barbecue franchise still offers a quality selection of signature meats, home style sides, tangy barbecue sauce and free kids meals every Sunday. All meats are slow smoked on site in each restaurant. Dickey’s currently has 312 franchises open in 40 states.

The 500th franchise was sold to Marshall Williams and will open sometime in October in Beaumont, Texas. Williams previously worked as a corporate security manager for a major chemical company in Texas.

“I picked Dickey’s because I was so impressed with their growth and their brand has a lot to offer – they really caught my attention,” said new franchise owner Williams. “This is a milestone for Dickey’s, but also an extremely exciting opportunity for me to start the new era in Dickey’s growth.”

Dickey’s Barbecue was recently named the Fastest Growing Restaurant Chain by Technomic’s Top 500 Annual Report. Dickey’s outpaced many larger fast casual restaurant chains to seize the title. In 2012, Dickey’s added almost 100 new locations, many multi-unit deals and opened in new markets.
