Owner Celebrates Grand Opening with Free Subs

July 11, 2013 - Gig Harbor, WA - Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled East Coast-style subs, officially opened its doors in Gig Harbor on July 10. Franchise owner Jeff Gates held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, July 10 to Sunday, July 14 to support Gig Harbor/Peninsula FISH.

The new restaurant, located at 4819 Point Fosdick Drive N.W., circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Gig Harbor/Peninsula FISH.

The mission at Gig Harbor/Peninsula FISH is to provide emergency food, supplies, and financial assistance to individuals below the poverty income level. Support includes but is not limited to: medical payments, utilities, counseling, and rent assistance. The organization also provides support for children from low income families such as: counseling, school supplies, clothing, and scholarships for summer school, day camp, and tutoring.

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.

Gates exemplifies Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

“My first exposure to Jersey Mike’s was actually through the Travel Channel program Sandwich Paradise,” said Gates. “Immediately after seeing the segment on Jersey Mike’s I looked up where the nearest location was to me and paid them a visit. Time after time I was blown away by the product and service offered by Jersey Mike’s. I then began to learn about what a benevolent organization this was and after not too long I was sold on becoming a franchise owner. For our grand opening we have the opportunity to partner with FISH and facilitate some of the wonderful things they do to help local families. I could not be more excited for our grand opening on July 10 and I look forward to Jersey Mike’s becoming an integral part of the Gig Harbor community.”
