Jersey Mike's Subs Opens in Corona
Owner Celebrates Grand Opening with Free Subs
August 9, 2013 - CORONA, Calif. – Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled Jersey Shore-style subs, officially opened its doors in Corona on July 31. Franchise owner Gil Rubalcaba held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, August 7 to Sunday, August 11 to support the YMCA.
The new restaurant, located at 2150 California Avenue, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to the YMCA.
Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.

“Corona is home to my family so opening our first Jersey Mike’s location here is really very exciting,” said Rubalcaba. “My wife, Alessandra, and I have three young children who are just starting to attend school and become involved with the community. Owning our own business right here in our backyard solidifies our connection to Corona and gives us an opportunity to make a difference for many families starting with our grand opening.
“For our grand opening fundraiser we have partnered with the YMCA to raise money and provide support for all that they do to help local families,” he said. “As working parents, Alessandra and I know the value of a great community resource like the YMCA where children can be safe and learn valuable life lessons along the way. We hope to have a great impact for the programs at the YMCA and we look forward to working with many different community organizations and local schools throughout the year.”
Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way™ with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature olive oil blend, vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago. This is Rubalcaba’s second Jersey Mike’s location. In September 2012, he opened his first Jersey Mike’s in Eastvale.
