September 09, 2013 // Franchising.com // LOS ANGELES - Sky Zone Indoor Trampoline Park, creator of the world’s first all-trampoline, walled playing court and the sport of Ultimate Dodgeball, is proud to host the Ultimate Dodgeball Pepsi Charity Challenge - a charity match between acclaimed fighter Randy Couture’s Xtreme Couture MMA team and the champions of the 2013 Ultimate Dodgeball Championship. The game will take place on Sunday, September 22 at Sky Zone Las Vegas, concluding with Sky Zone donating $10,000 to the winning team’s charity. Sky Zone will also donate $5,000 to the losing team’s charity.
The 2013 Ultimate Dodgeball Championship consists of the final eight teams filtered from an original 400 across 30 Local Qualifiers who will battle it out for $50,000 in total cash prizes. The Xtreme Couture MMA team will square off against the eventual Ultimate Dodgeball Championship winners, playing for a cause very close to the Ultimate Dodgeball community – three-year old Elijah Hyde from Indianapolis, Ind. Elijah is scheduled for a kidney transplant due to a life threatening condition of posterior urethral valves. Elijah’s uncle, Thomas Hopkins, plays on an Ultimate Dodgeball team in Indianapolis and will be donating his own kidney to Elijah just days after the tournament. Thomas and his team “The Shell Shockers,” played in the Ultimate Dodgeball Championship Local Qualifier in Indianapolis and the community has rallied around his cause. Xtreme Couture fighters scheduled to compete include Jay Hieron, Ray Sefo and Frank Trigg. The Xtreme Couture team will play to benefit the Xtreme Couture G.I. Foundation, which provides support to the brave men and women who have served in the armed forces.
“The Ultimate Dodgeball Pepsi Charity Challenge is a new and welcomed addition to this year’s Ultimate Dodgeball Championship,” said Rick Platt, Chairman of Sky Zone LLC. “We look forward to seeing the MMA battle the Ultimate Dodgeball Champions and, after a hard fought game, donating to a very worthy cause.”
“We’re pleased to partner with Sky Zone for the opportunity to bring much-deserved attention to veterans,” said Randy Couture, founder of Xtreme Couture G.I. Foundation. “We think it will be a thrilling event and our team of expert fighters is ready to take on the challenge to benefit veterans in need.”
The Ultimate Dodgeball Pepsi Charity Challenge will take place at Sky Zone Las Vegas, located at 7350 S. Dean Martin Dr. Las Vegas, NV 89139.
