Jersey Mike's Subs Opens Two More San Diego Area Locations

Owners Celebrate Grand Openings with Free Subs

September 13, 2013 - SAN DIEGO, Jersey Mike’s Subs, the fast-growing, fast casual franchise known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled Jersey Shore-style subs, opened two new locations in the San Diego area next week on Wednesday, September 11, in Chula Vista and Carlsbad.

Both locations held free sub fundraisers from Wednesday, September 11 to Sunday, September 15 to support their local educational foundations and each circulated 10,000 coupons throughout their communities offering a free regular sub for minimum $1 contribution.

In Chula Vista, the new restaurant is located at 2015 Birch Road in the Otay Ranch Town Center, and franchise owners Alan Jehamy, Raul Esses, and brothers Marc and Ilan Wornovitzky supported the Eastlake Educational Foundation. This is their first Jersey Mike’s restaurant.

“Raul and I were interested in getting into the restaurant industry and after trying our first sub at Jersey Mike’s, we knew this was the right move,” said Jehamy. “Opening up in Chula Vista gives us the great opportunity to get involved with the community and give back starting with our grand opening fundraiser. For the first five days that we are open, we will be raising money for the Eastlake Educational Foundation to help benefit all the local schools. Throughout the year we hope to get even more involved with the community and continue to make a positive impact for the people of Chula Vista.”

Carlsbad’s new Jersey Mike’s is located at 2604 El Camino Real, and owners Joe and Susan Weir supported the Carlsbad Educational Foundation. This is the second Jersey Mike’s location for the Weirs. They opened their first location in September 2011 in Encinitas.

“Partnering with the Carlsbad Education Foundation gives us the opportunity to raise money for our education system which is currently underfunded,” said Joe Weir. “When given the opportunity to give back, I believe the best place to start is with children. A great education is so important for shaping the lives of young people. When we first joined the Jersey Mike’s family in 2011, we did so because this company has such a commitment to giving back and providing a quality product. These two things really resonated with me then, and still do today. As a business owner, I am grateful for the chance to make a positive impact for others.”

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.

Jersey Mike’s newest location owners exemplify the franchise’s quest for excellence as it selects owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way™ with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature olive oil blend, vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week for both locations.
