Jersey Mike's Celebrates 10th Year in Seattle Area with Auburn Opening

Owners Celebrate Grand Opening with Free Subs

October 10, 2013 // Franchising.com // Auburn, WA - Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled Jersey Shore-style subs, officially opened its doors in Auburn on October 2. Franchise owners Ray and Kristina Neyens held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, October 2 to Sunday, October 6 to support Auburn High School. The Nevens opened the first Seattle area Jersey Mike’s 10 years ago in Kent.

The new restaurant, located at 920 15th Street SW, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Auburn High School.

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.

The Neyens’ exemplify Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

"Ten years ago, we opened up the first Jersey Mike’s in the state and now we are opening up the tenth location in Washington," said Ray Neyens. "This is a great opportunity for us to grow the brand and we are looking forward to even more continued growth in the next few years. With each grand opening we are given the chance to give back to our local community. This time around, we are partnering with Auburn High School to help fund student programs. At Jersey Mike’s, we are committed to making a difference and we are hopeful that through our five day fundraiser we will be able to make a positive impact for our students."

Nevens, who serves as local area director, said that pursuing Jersey Mike’s mission to make the best subs in the industry and give back to the local community is helping the Seattle market ramp up for continued growth, with 24 restaurants in development. This year, the Seattle market is opening 4 new locations including Auburn. Jersey Mike’s new Gig Harbor restaurant is proving hugely popular with residents and two other locations are planned for Puyallup and Redmond Downtown.

Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way® with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature olive oil blend, vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.

This is the 2nd Jersey Mike’s location for the Neyens. In July 2003, they opened their first Jersey Mike’s location in Kent.
