Jersey Mike's Subs Opens Second Lynchburg Location

Owner Celebrates Grand Opening with Free Subs

October 10, 2013 // Franchising.com // Lynchburg, VA - Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled Jersey Shore-style subs, officially opened its doors in Lynchburg on October 9. Franchise owner Scott Buckner, along with managers Ashley Diamond and Tripp Setliff, held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, October 9 to Sunday, October 13 to support Wheels on the James.

The new restaurant, located at 3901 Old Forest Road, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Wheels on the James.

Wheels on the James is dedicated to creating mobility and independence for people with physical challenges by providing AmTryke therapeutic cycles to individuals who are unable to ride traditional bikes, participating in community service, and providing Lynchburg College scholarships for students of physical therapy who are passionate about serving the physically challenged.

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.

Buckner exemplifies Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way® with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature olive oil blend, vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago. This is Buckner’s second Jersey Mike’s location. In April 2008, he opened his first Jersey Mike’s location in Lynchburg at 3919 Wards Road.
