Spring and The Woodlands Fit Body Boot Camp Announces the Launch of Their "Cans for a Cause" Food Drive

Spring and The Woodlands Fit Body Boot Camp announces the launch of their "Cans for a Cause" food drive and sets goal to donate 800 pounds of food to the Montgomery County Food Bank.

The Woodlands, TX (PRWEB) October 17, 2013 - Inspired by recent hunger statistics in the community, Spring and The Woodlands Fit Body Boot Camp owner, Shanna Layne, announces the launch of her "Cans for a Cause" food drive benefiting the Montgomery County Food Bank.

She says, "I knew we needed to sponsor a food drive to help the people in our community when I heard a woman from the Montgomery County Food Bank speak at a recent Chamber of Commerce event. She stood up and told us how thousands of people in our area go without food every day. Working people, people who simply do not make enough money to provide food for their families."

Beginning on October 3rd and continuing until the 31st, Spring and The Woodlands Fit Body Boot Camp will start collecting non-perishable food items from its members in order to meet their 800 pound donation goal. Members of either boot camp will receive a raffle ticket for every food item that is brought in for "Cans for a Cause", and, at the end of the food drive, winners will be selected from the raffle tickets to win prizes. The prizes include a free month of boot camp, Fit Body Boot Camp gear, and a gift basket with gift cards from various local businesses.

Within the first seven days of "Cans for a Cause" being launched, The Woodlands and Spring Fit Body Boot Camp were able to collect a combined total of 180.8 pounds of nonperishable food items for the Montgomery County Food Bank’s food drive.

President and CEO of the Montgomery County Food Bank, Sean-Michael Hazuda, says "The Food Bank is excited to be partnering with Fit Body Boot Camp because they are committed to helping promote health and wellness as are we. Together we are raising awareness about the importance of good health, the increasing number of hungry people in Montgomery County and how, together, we can help those in need get nutritious food. I hope that many more businesses in throughout the County will join the efforts to feed our hungry neighbors."

Thrilled at the fact that her boot camp members are making huge efforts to meet their 800 pound goal, Layne says, "I feel like, if you are in a position to help someone and you feel compelled to do so in your heart – then you have to do it. You just never know when you, or someone you love might be struggling and need help. Wouldn’t you want someone to help you?"
