Owner Celebrates Grand Opening with Free Subs

October 22, 2013 // Franchising.com // Oceanside, Calif. – Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled Jersey Shore-style subs, officially opened its doors in Oceanside on October 16. Franchise owner Morgan Ensberg held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, October 16 to Sunday, October 20 to support the Semper Fi Fund.

The new restaurant, located at 4111 Oceanside Boulevard, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to the Semper Fi Fund.

The Injured Marine Semper Fi Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit set up to provide immediate financial support for injured and critically ill members of the U.S. Armed Forces and their families. We direct urgently needed resources to post 9-11 service members within 24-72 hours of request.

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.

Ensberg exemplifies Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

During the first five days we are open we have the opportunity to support the Semper Fi Fund. Working with this organization allows us to give back to the Oceanside community in a way that is very meaningful for the many military families that live here."

The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. This is the first Jersey Mike’s location for Ensberg. Ensberg (born August 26, 1975) is a former infielder in Major League Baseball. Ensberg bats and throws right-handed. He was previously a member of the Houston Astros, San Diego Padres, and New York Yankees. Ensberg is the only MLB player in history to have won championship rings in College (USC '98), Rookie league (Auburn '98), Single A (Kissimmee '99), AA (Round Rock '00), AAA (New Orleans '01), and to have played in a World Series (2005, Houston Astros).
