Nation’s Largest Barbecue Chain Offers Tips for a Non-Traditional Thanksgiving

DALLAS - October 30, 2013 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Halloween is almost here, but Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. is already gearing up for the next big event: Thanksgiving. Last year, the rapidly expanding national barbecue chain broke sales records with over $2 million in system-wide sales during Thanksgiving weekend. They expect this year to be even better.

"Last year, we had a tremendous response to our holiday family meals and were thrilled that so many families enjoyed Dickey’s Barbecue for their Thanksgiving celebrations," said Roland Dickey, Jr., President and CEO of Dickey’s Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. "This year our restaurants around the country are already taking orders for our holiday meals including our Smoked and Cajun Fried Turkeys – consumers are craving variety along with traditional holiday favorites."

As the nation’s largest barbecue franchise, Dickey’s Barbecue offers a few tips to put a Texas Twist on your Thanksgiving feast.

Plan a Thanksgiving picnic. Set up your meal outside and feast like the Pilgrim did. Set up a grill or smoker for your meats and sides.

Everyone likes options. This year offer multiple holiday proteins to go with your Smoked Turkey like tender beef brisket and fall-off-bone ribs. Add a unique turkey like a Cajun Deep Fried Turkey from Dickey’s Barbecue.

Sweeten the deal. Nothing says Southern Thanksgiving like Sweet Tea. Pick up a gallon of Miss Ollie’s Sweet Tea for Thanksgiving.

Put some heat on the side. If you are tired of traditional sides, add a kick to your holiday meal with Jalapeno or Barbecue Beans.

Dickey’s Barbecue was founded by Travis Dickey with the goal of authentic slow smoked barbecue. More than 72 years later, the Dallas-based family run barbecue franchise still offers a quality selection of signature meats, home style sides, tangy barbecue sauce and free kids meals every Sunday. All meats are slow smoked on site in each restaurant. The fast-casual family-friendly concept has expanded to over 300 locations in 40 states and holds the title of the world’s largest barbecue franchise. This year both Technomic and Nation’s Restaurant News named Dickey’s "Fastest-growing restaurant in the country" and they were also named "Best Franchise Deal" by QSR Magazine.
