Cold Weather Brings Comfort Food Focus to Newk’s Eatery Through End of Year

Fresh-Casual Restaurant Announces Limited Time Menu Additions for Winter 2013

November 11, 2013 // Franchising.com // JACKSON, MISS. - Available now through the first week of January, Newk’s Eatery’s, the 61-unit fresh casual restaurant concept known for its culinary-inspired menu, has expanded its menu to include three comfort food entrees. The new limited time menu offerings – Five Cheese Grilled Cheese, Turkey Cranberry Sandwich and Pimiento Cheese Pizza – are just in time for the holidays and being rolled out companywide.

The oven-baked Five Cheese Grilled Cheese is layered from end-to-end with Havarti, Gruyere, Monterey Jack, Gouda and Cheddar and grilled to perfection, with the additional option to add a hearty sprinkle of bacon bits throughout.

A nod to Thanksgiving classics, the hot Turkey Cranberry Sandwich is piled high with premium, hand-sliced turkey deli meat, cranberry chutney and Swiss cheese before making an open-face pass through the oven.

The Pimiento Cheese Pizza consists of Newk’s hand-tossed crust brushed with garlic olive oil, covered with pimiento cheese, baked in the oven until crispy and golden brown and garnished with bacon bits. Pimiento cheese is one of Newk’s signature menu items and is made with sharp yellow and white cheddar cheeses and a proprietary seasoning blend to bring a signature flavor combination to the classic Southern spread.

"Our seasonal offerings are designed to warm our guests from inside out on bitter winter days," said Alan Wright, vice president of franchise operations and marketing.

The toasted sandwiches are priced at $6.95 and $6.75 respectively, and the Pimiento Cheese Pizza is available for $7.25.
