Jersey Mike's Subs Opens Second St. Petersburg Location

Owners Celebrate Grand Opening with Free Subs

November 15, 2013 - St. Petersburg, FL - Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled Jersey Shore-style subs, officially opened its doors in St. Petersburg on November 13. Franchise owners Tamara Griffith, Scott Griffith, and Donnie Tarbutton held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, November 13 to Sunday, November 17 to support the Wounded Warrior Project.

The new restaurant, located at 3832 Tyrone Boulevard North, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to the Wounded Warrior Project.

The Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) serves veterans and service members who incurred a physical or mental injury, illness, or wound, co-incident to their military service on or after September 11, 2001 and their families. On that date, America watched in horror as approximately 3,000 people died including hundreds of firefighters and rescue workers. Many warriors note a sense of duty to volunteer for the military following these tragic events.

Started at the Jersey Shore in 1956, Jersey Mike's continued its steady growth in 2012 opening 92 new restaurants throughout the country, a 33 percent increase in new store growth over 2011.

The Griffiths and Tarbutton exemplify Jersey Mike’s quest for excellence as it selects franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, locations throughout the country have raised almost $7 million for worthy local charities and distributed more than 500,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

"My son was in college and working for Jersey Mike’s in Tallahassee when he approached me about franchising with Jersey Mike’s," said Scott Griffith. "After doing some research and carefully considering a few different concepts, we decided that Jersey Mike’s would be the best fit and we could really get behind the quality of the product.

"In addition to having a great product, we chose Jersey Mike’s because of the friendly and inviting atmosphere and the culture of giving back to the community. For the first five days that we are open, we will be supporting the Wounded Warrior Project to give back to veterans who have sacrificed for our freedom. We look forward to opening our doors on November 13 and raising money for a great cause," Griffith said.

Passionate Jersey Mike's fans crave their subs made Mike's Way® with onions, lettuce, tomatoes and a signature olive oil blend, vinegar and spices. The company uses only private labeled meats and cheeses that are sliced fresh for each sub sandwich and piled high on in-store baked bread. Everything is quickly made to order for each customer, just the way the first subs were made at the original Jersey Mike's more than fifty years ago. The Jersey Mike’s experience always includes its trademark neighborly banter served up by a high-energy Jersey Mike’s team.

Store hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact this store directly at (727) 800-6954.
