Stafford Boot Camp to Host December Food, Clothing, and Toy Drive Benefiting the Houston Food Bank and Star of Hope Houston Shelter

Fit Body Boot Camp in Stafford announces their plans to host a food, clothing, and toy drive during the month of December to benefit local Houston food banks and shelters this holiday season.

Stafford, TX (PRWEB) November 25, 2013 - In an effort to give back in a big way this upcoming holiday season, the Fit Body Boot Camp in Stafford announces the launch of their Saturday Boot Camp Food, Clothing, and Toy Drive that benefits the local charities, the Houston Food Bank and Star of Hope Houston Shelter.

Every Saturday during the month of December at 9:00 a.m. and 10:00 a.m., Stafford Fit Body Boot Camp will host a free boot camp workout open to the community in exchange for non-perishable food items, clothing of any size, and children’s toys. The food items collected during the drive will go the Houston Food Bank, while the collected clothes and toys will be donated to the Star of Hope Houston.

According to recent hunger statistics, Texas has one of the highest rates of children without consistent access to food at 27.6 % and it is the mission of the Houston Food Bank to lower that number by providing nutritious meals to individuals and families who need assistance.

Homelessness is another issue that hits Texas hard with a staggering 79,000 Texans that experience homelessness on any given day. The Star of Hope is a community dedicated to meeting the needs of homeless men, women and their children by providing much needed services through their many centers and shelters. On any given day, there are approximately 1,100 homeless men, women and children being helped at their Men’s Development Center, Women and Family Emergency Shelter, Transitional Living Center for Women & Families and New Horizons.

Stafford Fit Body Boot Camp owner and operator, local fitness and health expert Leo Chan, says he was inspired to host a food, clothing, and toy drive for the local charities because he is passionate about helping the community in any way he can.

Chan explains, "The reason why I would like to host the food, clothing, and toy drive is because I feel that this is very important to help our community out during the holidays. Being a personal trainer and a gym owner, my passion lies in helping people in any way I can to improve their lives. During this holiday season, there is many people in Houston that need help with food, clothing, and toys for their children."
