Buffalo Wild Wings Opens First Restaurant in Mexico

Brand Built on Wings, Beer and Sports Continues International Expansion

MINNEAPOLIS - December 16, 2013 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - Fans in Mexico can now enjoy the award-winning taste of Buffalo Wild Wings as the first restaurant opened in Chihuahua, Mexico, this week. With more than 975 restaurants in the United States and Canada, Buffalo Wild Wings® continues to spread its wings across North America.

The company that has turned wings, beer and sports into one of the fastest-growing restaurant companies in the U.S. believes the concept will be popular within Mexico as well. Buffalo Wild Wings locations will feature the company’s new restaurant design, which provides the ultimate sports viewing experience while bringing the look and feel of the stadium right into the restaurant.

"The Buffalo Wild Wings experience is truly unique, from our always fresh made-to-order wings to our signature sauces and seasonings, and our true passion for sports," said Sally Smith, CEO and president of Buffalo Wild Wings. "We see how sports bring people together and know that our great food and the fun, social atmosphere is a combination that appeals to families and friends."

Buffalo Wild Wings is known for the highest-quality Buffalo, New York-style chicken wings, available in 21 signature sauces and seasonings, ranging from Sweet BBQ™ to Blazin’®. Guests also enjoy a full menu of burgers, appetizers and thin-crust flatbreads, all designed to easily share with friends, along with a wide selection of beers.

Each restaurant has an extensive multi-media system that features large wall-to-wall high-definition televisions for excellent sports viewing. In addition to sports, Buffalo Wild Wings is a popular destination for an interactive technology experience that includes BuzzTime, video games, and new content and games on mobile and digital platforms.

The Chihuahua restaurant is operated by HEMA, one of three restaurant groups in Mexico that are opening Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants. In mid-January, Buffalo Wild Wings locations will open in Merida, owned by Grupo SE, and in Monterey, which will be operated by BWW Foods. The three franchise groups are expected to open nearly 30 Buffalo Wild Wings restaurants across Mexico over the next few years.

The company’s international push began in 2011 with restaurants in Canada, which have grown to include 14 locations. As part of its continued international growth, Buffalo Wild Wings announced further expansion into the Middle East and the Philippines and anticipates opening those restaurants in 2014. The company continues to seek opportunities in markets around the world.

"As we explore new markets, we take the time to learn about the countries, cultures and potential partners," said Smith. "We are pleased to be working with three franchise partners in Mexico who all have extensive experience in restaurants and retail – and most importantly, a deep understanding of the market and our target Guest."
