Kinderdance® Franchisee Helps Support NYC ASD Nest Program

Franchise Organization Brings Movement Education to Young Children Worldwide

January 21, 2014 // Franchising.com // Melbourne FL - Staten Island area Kinderdance franchisee, Doris Velez, is working with NYC Department of Education ASD Nest Program. The ASD Nest Program helps higher functioning children with autism spectrum disorders (ASD) to improve their academic, social, and behavior functions in school and in their communities. Doris teaches these children the basics of ballet and tap, enhancing their motor development, and communication skills. Being part of the ASD NEST Program takes on a very personal meaning for Kinderdance franchisee Doris Velez. She and her family know all too well the challenges that families face when they receive the news that their child has an autism spectrum disorder. Her son, Matthew, was diagnosed with autism in 2006.

"My son Matthew has been in the ASD NEST Program since Kindergarten and he has excelled. The Nest Program has far exceeded our expectations" says Ms. Velez. This year Kinderdance franchisee Doris Velez is currently teaching two NEST-enhanced Kinderdance classes and hopes to add more children and classes to the ASD Nest Program next year.

Doris Velez has been a Kinderdance franchisee since 2006, teaching children in Richmond County, New York.
