Sport Clips Haircuts Recognized for "Fast and Serious" Growth

Georgetown-based Company Lands Two Top 20 Franchise Rankings This Week

March 07, 2014 // Franchising.com // GEORGETOWN, Texas – Sport Clips Haircuts, the nation's largest franchise dedicated to men's and boys' hair care, is number 14 of 40 in the new Franchise Times "Fast and Serious" ranking of the "smartest-growing brands."

The 10-point formula for selecting franchises for this first-time ranking considers such factors as percentage sales growth, percentage unit growth, dollar sales growth and numerical unit growth over the past three years, with more weight given to acceleration in years two and three. Database for the ranking is the Franchise Times Top 200 plus 300 of the largest franchise systems by revenue.

In the report, Sport Clips' Founder and CEO Gordon Logan cites strong same-store sales growth of nine to 10 percent over the past three years as a top achievement and is quoted as saying, "We have always had the philosophy that we will not grow any faster than we can support our team leaders (franchisees) so that we maximize their probability for success." He goes on to say, "In the past three years we have opened over 400 stores, growing to 1,150 locations, while only three have closed, two due to changed shopping center dynamics where leases were appropriately not renewed."

Sport Clips was also recognized this week by Entrepreneur magazine as one of the nation's "fastest growing" franchises. For the second year in a row, Sport Clips ranks 16th, up from 18th in 2012.
