June 23, 2014 - San Diego, CA - Jersey Mike's Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs, opened in San Diego on June 18. Franchise owner Christy Paul, along with her partner Mike Baker, held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, June 18 to Sunday, June 22 to support the YMCA.
The new restaurant, located at 9211 Clairemont Mesa Boulevard, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $2 contribution to the YMCA.
"We're grateful for the opportunity to develop the Jersey Mike's brand in San Diego," said Paul. "As we open our second location, the metaphor of our growing family keeps coming to mind. When we opened our first shop in 2011, our first child was just born and now shortly after the birth of our second child, we are opening our doors yet again. It's been interesting to see the similarities between the two ways in which our lives are expanding and what it takes to be successful as we grow."
Paul added, "It is tradition at Jersey Mike's to partner with a local organization for a grand opening fundraiser. We're teamed up with the YMCA because we feel it's important to support community programs that are geared toward children. Additionally, the YMCA is so close to our new location and we're hoping that this is just the beginning of a long-lasting community partnership."
