ATLANTA - July 16, 2014 - (BUSINESS WIRE) - While consumers continue their insatiable appetite for value-priced comfort food, restaurant investors are increasingly hungry for a share of the market. At least that seems the case, based on a growing number of franchise agreements being signed around the country with Huddle House, a 50-year-old, 24-hour full-service family restaurant that specializes in breakfast that is served anytime of the day or night, burger and sandwich platters and traditional Southern favorites such as country-fried steak.
Following a robust first quarter that closed with deals to open 15 new restaurants across five states, Huddle House executives report an active start to the second quarter – signing five new franchise deals that will result in 10 new restaurants. The deals will introduce Huddle House to two new states, including one restaurant in Nebraska and six new restaurants throughout New Jersey. The remaining three new locations will allow Huddle House to continue to spread its southern charm in Texas, Georgia and Virginia.
In addition, current franchisees continue to invest in existing Huddle House restaurants in order to remodel and re-open them, implementing the company's refreshed prototype design. The 'Evolution' prototype, introduced in May 2013, has resulted in significant comp sales increases. With a $2.5 million incentive program that provides financial support for franchisees to remodel their restaurants, company executives expect to see 30 percent of the system remodeled to the new look by the end of the year.
"The remodel program, coupled with the growth and entry into new states has created a great sense of optimism that has permeated throughout the Huddle House franchise system," said Jonathan Benjamin, Chief Development Officer for Huddle House. "It's an exciting time to be a Huddle House franchisee; it's a brand new day for this well-loved brand."
