Jersey Mike's Subs Opens First Grosse Pointe Location

Owners Celebrate With Free Sub Fundraiser

July 24, 2014 // Franchising.com // Grosse Pointe, MI - Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs, opened in Grosse Pointe on July 16. Franchise owners Louis Asher and Shawn Grafstein, along with manager Don VanDamme, held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, July 16 to Sunday, July 20 to support Jack’s Place for Autism and Grosse Pointe South Athletics.

The new restaurant, located at 17020 Kercheval Avenue, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Jack’s Place for Autism or Grosse Pointe South Athletics.

"Jersey Mike’s is such a great opportunity and we immediately connected with the quality of the product and the company culture of giving back," said Asher. "Jersey Mike’s is undeniably the freshest sub sandwich on the market and we’re excited to begin serving it in Grosse Pointe."

Asher added, "Every Jersey Mike’s grand opening is a chance to support the community through a five day fundraiser. We chose to team up with Jack’s Place for Autism and Grosse Pointe South Athletics to give back to two different segments of our community. Because Autism has become so widespread and affects so many people, we thought it would be a great idea to align ourselves with this cause. In addition, we wanted to show our support for the local high school athletics program that is so important for many students."

Asher and Grafstein are exemplary Jersey Mike’s franchise owners who share the company’s commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service, and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, Jersey Mike’s locations throughout the country have raised nearly $10 million for worthy local charities and have distributed more than 750,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.

About Jersey Mike’s

Started in 1956, Jersey Mike’s now has 1,300 restaurants open and under development nationwide. In just three years, the company has nearly doubled in size. A 2014 Technomic report ranked Jersey Mike’s in the top five fastest-growing restaurant chains with sales above $200 million.

The growth is fueled by passionate Jersey Mike’s fans who crave their subs made Mike’s Way® with the freshest vegetables – onions, lettuce and tomatoes – topped off with an exquisite zing of "the juice" – red wine vinegar and olive oil blended to perfection. Jersey Mike’s premium meats and cheeses are sliced on the spot, piled high on in-store baked bread and served up with a helping of neighborly banter from a dedicated and high-energy team.

This is the 1st Jersey Mike’s location for Asher and Grafstein.

The restaurant’s hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week.
