October 22, 2014 - Bend, OR - Jersey Mike's Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs, opened in Bend on October 8. Franchise owners Robert Messih and James McGaha held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, October 8 to Sunday, October 12 to support Summit High School.
The new restaurant, located at 143 SW Century Drive, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $2 contribution to Summit High School.
"We're very excited to bring the Jersey Mike's brand to Bend," said Messih. "It feels great to not only introduce our fantastic product, but also make a difference in the community where I live. My son currently attends Summit High School, which makes this a very special fundraising opportunity. The money we raise during our grand opening will go toward funding athletic programs that are so vital to many young athletes. This is a beautiful community to call home and truly a great fit for Jersey Mike's."
McGaha added, "The two most important things about Jersey Mike's, to me, are first, the commitment to the community and second, the exceptional quality of the food. Expanding the Jersey Mike's brand and culture to Bend gives us the chance to support our community and we look forward to opening our doors on October 8."
Messih and McGaha are exemplary Jersey Mike's franchise owners who share the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service, and who are dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, Jersey Mike's locations throughout the country have raised nearly $10 million for worthy local charities and have distributed more than 750,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
Started in 1956, Jersey Mike's now has 1,300 restaurants open and under development nationwide. In just three years, the company has nearly doubled in size. A 2014 Technomic report ranked Jersey Mike's in the top five fastest-growing restaurant chains with sales above $200 million.
The growth is fueled by passionate Jersey Mike's fans who crave their subs made Mike's Way® with the freshest vegetables – onions, lettuce and tomatoes – topped off with an exquisite zing of "the juice" – red wine vinegar and olive oil blended to perfection. Jersey Mike's premium meats and cheeses are sliced on the spot, piled high on in-store baked bread and served up with a helping of neighborly banter from a dedicated and high-energy team.
