November 25, 2014 // Franchising.com // Blue Springs, MO - Jersey Mike's Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs, opened in Blue Springs on November 19 as part of expansion plans for the franchise in western Missouri as well as in Iowa, Nebraska, and Kansas. Franchise owner Kevin Rohrbach held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, November 19 to Sunday, November 23 to support the Blue Springs Education Foundation. This is the first of three locations Rohrbach plans to open in the Greater Kansas City metro area.
The new restaurant, located at 1209 N. E. Coronado Drive, circulated 10,000 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular fresh sliced sub for a minimum $1 contribution to Blue Springs Education Foundation.
"We are excited to open our doors in Blue Springs," said Rohrbach. "The Jersey Mike's philosophy is to give back to the community it serves and the Blue Springs Education Foundation is a natural charity partner for our first fundraiser because it shares the same philosophy. We are looking forward to becoming an active part of this community."
Rohrbach is an exemplary Jersey Mike's franchise owner who shares the company's commitment to quality products and exceptional customer service, and who is dedicated to giving back to the local community. Since 2010, Jersey Mike's locations throughout the country have raised nearly $10 million for worthy local charities and have distributed more than 750,000 free sub sandwiches to help numerous causes.
"Our expansion in this Midwest area is now in full-swing," said Mike Spiegel Sr., who was recently named Jersey Mike's Subs area director for Nebraska, Kansas, Iowa and western Missouri. "Along with the Blue Springs opening and two upcoming locations in western Missouri, nine additional locations are in development in Nebraska as well as four more in the Des Moines area."
Jersey Mike's currently has two locations in Lincoln and one in Omaha, Neb., one in Clive, Iowa, two in Topeka, Kansas and one in Springfield, Mo. In addition Spiegel's son, Mike Spiegel Jr., owns one location in Olathe, Kansas.
"Jersey Mike's Subs offers a great opportunity for franchising in the Midwest," Spiegel said. "I grew up in Point Pleasant, N.J., with Peter Cancro, the company's founder and CEO, and I got through high school eating the original Mike's Subs. Jersey Mike's Subs are still made with that original recipe from 1956 but you don't have to have grown up on the beach to know an exceptional fresh-made sub when you eat one. Our resounding success here so far shows us that Midwesterners know a good thing when they taste it and we're thrilled to continue bringing our authentic Jersey Shore subs to these local communities."
Founder Peter Cancro started Jersey Mike's when he was just 17 years old, not even old enough to legally slice a sub. Today the franchise has grown to 1,300 restaurants open and under development nationwide. In just three years, the company has nearly doubled in size. Jersey Mike's was named the #1 fastest growing chain in the Nation's Restaurant News 2014 Top 100. It wins best sub awards in virtually every market it enters.
The growth is fueled by passionate Jersey Mike's fans who crave their subs made Mike's Way® with the freshest vegetables – onions, lettuce and tomatoes – topped off with an exquisite zing of "the juice" – red wine vinegar and olive oil blended to perfection. Jersey Mike's premium meats and cheeses are sliced on the spot, piled high on in-store baked bread and served up with a helping of neighborly banter from a dedicated and high-energy team.
A Jersey Mike's representative will be at the opening in Blue Springs next week to answer questions of interested franchise candidates in the area.
The restaurant's hours are 10 a.m. to 9 p.m., seven days a week. You can contact this location directly at
