Local Brothers Open Second Location in New Orleans Area; Expand Customizable Burger Franchise to Suburban Metairie

To satisfy the taste buds of Metairie, Louisiana burger enthusiasts, the brand will be opening its doors on Dec. 8. Located at 4100 Veterans Memorial Boulevard, the restaurant is owned by brothers and local residents Kaleb and Khai Duong and is the second of five locations scheduled to open in the New Orleans area over the next three years.

Prior to franchising, Kaleb and Khai's careers lay in radiology and education, respectively. The brothers, both in their 30s, knew they wanted to pursue local business ownership together in their spirited city of New Orleans. Kaleb and Khai first got into franchising in 2010 when they opened a couple of frozen-yogurt shops, which they still own and operate today. Wanting to diversify, and being familiar with MOOYAH after visiting Dallas, the brothers looked into the brand from a professional standpoint and signed a five-unit expansion deal. After opening their first location in May of this year at The Outlet Collection at Riverwalk, and through their newest opening in Metairie, the brothers hope to grow outward and ultimately develop the brand in the seven parishes surrounding New Orleans.

At MOOYAH, Guests start their made-to-order burger experience by choosing from freshly-baked white or whole wheat buns, or a low-carb, bun replacement of iceberg lettuce leaves. Next, Guests have the option of never-frozen 100 percent American beef, Jennie-O® turkey or the mouthwatering black bean veggie patty, all decorated with unlimited veggies, a choice of 11 delectable sauces, five different cheeses, and other savory toppings such as Applewood bacon and fresh avocado.
In addition, the sides and dessert are not to be forgotten. MOOYAH French fries are not an afterthought, but a crucial component of the whole MOOYAH experience. The daily-cut spuds are always cooked fresh, and transformed into the perfect French fries through a proprietary six-step, 24-hour process. Guests also have the option of the ever-popular Sweet Potato Fries. To offset the savory side of the menu, MOOYAH offers handcrafted shakes made with 100 percent real ice cream. Like their burgers, MOOYAH shakes can be customized with fun ice cream flavors and sweet toppings such as M&M's®, cookie dough and Reese's® PB cups.
MOOYAH has plans to continue its sustained expansion and predicts the brand will add more than 1,000 jobs to local communities through its restaurant openings in 2014.
