Mr. Electric Vice President Receives Certified Franchise Executive Designation

February 24, 2015 // Franchising.com // WACO, Texas - Craig Gjelsten, vice president of Mr. Electric, was recognized as a Certified Franchise Executive by the Institute of Certified Franchise Executives. Gjelsten completed a comprehensive course of study in franchise management offered by the institute, which is the academic branch of the International Franchise Association's Educational Foundation. The IFA is the world's oldest and largest organization representing franchising worldwide and honored this year's designees during its annual convention in Las Vegas, Nev., on Feb. 16.

Before joining Mr. Electric, Gjelsten previously served as the Director of Onboarding and Compliance for Rainbow International and was responsible for working with all new franchisees in the areas of marketing, operations, management, finance and technical issues. Gjelsten received the Rainbow Team Member of the Year award for 2013. Prior to coming to The Dwyer Group in 2012, Craig served as the Vice President of Business Development for a Rainbow International franchise, receiving the Top Gun award the first two years in business. Craig was also awarded the Rainbow Business Development Associate of the Year award for 2011.

"Completing the CFE program was an extremely rewarding and valuable experience. The CFE program provides a forum that supports professional development and the open exchange of ideas, innovation and best practices in the franchising industry. Having been on both the franchisee and franchisor side of business, this program provided clarity and better understanding of this mutually beneficial relationship," said Gjelsten. "I have already implemented many of the concepts and ideas learned within my own organization. Franchise executives interested in taking their brand to the next level should commit to earning their CFE designation."

Gjelsten graduated from the Naval Postgraduate School with a Master of Arts degree and was nominated for the school's Outstanding Research Award. He also earned a Master of Science degree from National-Louis University. Gjelsten has an undergraduate degree in Management from Southern Illinois University.

Nearly 1,800 franchise executives are currently enrolled or have received certification. More than 300 IFA-member companies currently have one or more executives enrolled in the program that provides benefits such as specialized knowledge, industry recognition, peer-level networking and professional standing.

Candidates are required to complete a rigorous course of study to earn the CFE designation, which includes attending institute-sponsored educational seminars and workshops. The program enhances franchising professionals' understanding of both the industry's fundamental and complex aspects.
