Nestlé® Toll House® Café by Chip Raises Funds for Pediatric Cancer Research on National Chocolate Chip Day

Popular bakery cafés encourage customers to celebrate the holiday with cookie cakes and support for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer.

May 14, 2015 // Franchising.com // DALLAS, TX – As if you needed another excuse to enjoy a Nestlé Toll House cookie, the calendar offers this helpful reminder: May 15 is National Chocolate Chip Day!

Nestlé® Toll House® Café by Chip is marking the occasion by serving up its famous chocolate chip cookies and cookie cakes, and by giving back to its bravest customers in collaboration with the Cookies for Kids’ Cancer organization.

From Friday, May 15, through Sunday, May 17, participating Nestlé Toll House Cafés across the nation will donate one dollar to the pediatric cancer charity for each customer who purchases a cookie cake and mentions “Cookies for Kids’ Cancer.” The national nonprofit organization helps fund the development of less toxic, more effective treatments for children battling cancer.

“National Chocolate Chip Day is a whimsical holiday that brings out the kid in all of us, so we decided to take this opportunity to support some special kids who truly need our help,” said Shawnon Bellah, Senior Vice President of Global Operations for Nestlé Toll House Café. “We hope everyone will stop by our cafés, order a celebratory cookie cake for a loved one or their co-workers and mention ‘Cookies for Kids’ Cancer.’ It’s a simple way for each of us to make a positive difference in these kids’ lives.”

Founded in 2008, Cookies for Kids’ Cancer provides inspiration and support for individuals, businesses and organizations to raise money by hosting grassroots bake sales and other fundraising events. Since its beginning, six dozen pediatric cancer research projects have been funded, according to Gretchen Witt, founder of the national non-profit organization.

"The people at Nestlé Toll House Café have been so supportive to our organization and we greatly appreciate the spotlight they're shining on childhood cancer this weekend," said Witt. "The say it takes a village to raise a child, and that certainly holds true when it comes to eradicating childhood cancer. We hope their customers will rise to the occasion and support our fundraiser this week.”

The premium dessert destination concept is built around the world's most powerful food brand – Nestlé. Along with their universally loved Nestlé Toll House cookies and cookie cakes, the cafés serve brownies, muffins, smoothies, ice creams, cold drinks and premium coffees. They are also a great lunch option thanks to their savory, made-to-order crepes, salads, wraps and Panini sandwiches.
