July 07, 2015 // Franchising.com // Allen, TX - Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs, opened in Allen on July 1. Franchise owner Drew Sutton held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, July 1 to Sunday, July 5 to support the Allen Sports Association.
The new restaurant, located at 790 West Exchange, circulated 7,500 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $1 contribution to the Allen Sports Association.
“I came across Jersey Mike’s while living in Nashville,” said Sutton. “There was a shop close to my church and every Sunday on my way home, I would grab a sub to eat while watching football. Needless to say, I was always impressed by the quality of the product and service I received. Down the road, when my wife, Staci, and I were considering starting a business, she had the idea to pursue the opportunity with Jersey Mike’s.”
Sutton is a former professional baseball player for various major league teams including the Cincinnati Reds and the Pittsburgh Pirates. Sutton played for 10 years and had the opportunity to travel to many U.S. cities where he enjoyed stopping in at Jersey Mike’s along the way.
“At Jersey Mike’s, it’s tradition to open each location with a community fundraiser,” Sutton said. “As a former athlete, I know firsthand the impact that sports can have on a child’s future. For that reason, we teamed up with Allen Sports Association to help fund scholarships that make it possible for more children to participate in youth sports.”
