October 28, 2016 // Franchising.com // Selden, NY – Big Frog Custom T-Shirts & More®, a locally-owned, high-technology garment decorating franchise where customers have the freedom to design their own apparel, announced today a lease signing to bring the first New York location to the Selden area at 251 Middle Country Road by early December.
The new Big Frog location will be owned and operated by Debbie Galvez, a former longtime employee of the Sbarro Corporation. After the company was moved to Ohio, the native Long Island resident decided it was time for a change of pace. After researching franchise opportunities in the area, Galvez was introduced to the Big Frog concept and was hooked. Nine months after discovering the brand, Galvez was on the path to business ownership for the fun-loving, community-based concept.
“I am beyond excited to bring this fun and innovative concept to our community with the opening of the first Big Frog location on Long Island,” said Galvez. “Our main objective is creating a fun value-added experience for our customers as they experiment with colors, fonts and graphics to get just the look they want. With our advanced printing technology and talented artists, the sky’s the limit on what you can do.”
Big Frog combines creativity with cutting-edge technology and brings a personalized service to local markets. The unique design technology makes it a fast, individualized and convenient service that leaps beyond competition. The brand’s environmentally-friendly Direct to Garment (DTG) printing bonds the ink to the fabric’s molecules, allowing products to be washed in both hot and cold water and with color-safe bleach without risking damage or cracking or peeling of the image.
According to Stitches’ 2015 State of the Industry survey, the decorated-apparel industry is poised for growth in 2016, with a forecast for the segment the highest it’s been in seven years.
“With the right people and tools in place, our brand is focused on nationwide growth, and we are pleased to announce this latest expansion in the Long Island area,” said Dr. Tina Bacon-DeFrece, president of Big Frog. “We look forward to a long-lasting relationship with Debbie, and hope to establish even more franchise relationships in the Northeast region in the years to come.”
Since opening its first franchised location in 2009, Big Frog has grown exponentially. With more than 65 locations open in 22 states and seven additional locations in different stages of development, the retailer is on track to have 75 stores operating by year’s end. As the $50 billion garment decorating industry continues to grow, Bacon-DeFrece believes that North America will be home to 300 Big Frog stores by 2020.
