Dwyer Group Takes Home Two Awards for Caritas of Waco Food For Families Drive

January 23, 2017 // Franchising.com // WACO, Texas – Dwyer Group, Inc., one of the world’s largest franchising companies of trade service brands, was awarded Sunday for their contributions to Food for Families food drive - most overall donations in the food drive as well as the award for most donations from a business with over 100 employees. The Food for Families drive was organized by Caritas of Waco, a non-profit that provides food, clothing and household items to those in need. In total the Dwyer Group collected 78,516 pounds of food.

January 15, 2017 - Executive Director of Caritas, Buddy Edwards, Charlene Rodriguez of Dywer Group, Virgil Teter of KWTX-TV and Courtney Kolar and Luke Stanton of Dwyer Group are presented with the Chairman’s Cup for most overall donations.

We appreciate the recognition from Caritas and we look forward to continuing to serve our local community.”

A total of 498,514 pounds of food were donated by over 100 organizations including businesses, schools and congregations. Nine food pantries in McLennan County will benefit from the outstanding amount of donations. Caritas hosted an awards ceremony at KWTX studios in Waco, TX on Sunday, January 15.

Food for Families is the largest one-day food drive in Texas. It is a Caritas of Waco annual event in conjunction with the Boy Scouts of America, H-E-B Grocery Company, and KWTX-TV. Together with food pantries all across Central Texas, this one-day food drive collects non-perishable food and stocks the shelves of area food banks and pantries beyond the holiday season. All donated food serves the people in the county in which it was collected.
