‘America’s Best Sports Bar’ To Break Ground In Prairieville

Ceremony for Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar scheduled for June 20

June 16, 2017 // Franchising.com // PRAIRIEVILLE, LA. - Prairieville will soon be home to an award-winning, family-friendly sports bar co-owned by NFL star Drew Brees.

Baton Rouge-based Walk-On’s Bistreaux & Bar is hosting a special groundbreaking ceremony for its newest restaurant on Tuesday, June 20. Franchisees Kevin Harrison and Miles Holley will join with local officials and Walk-On’s executives in turning over earth to mark the momentous occasion at 14555 Airline Highway, next to Rouse’s Market and the new Petco in Prairieville. The ceremony will begin at 11 a.m. with a reception featuring several of Walk-On’s most popular menu items to follow.

“I am very pleased to welcome Kevin and Miles to the Walk-On’s family,” said Brandon Landry, co-founder of Walk-On’s Enterprises. “The people of Ascension Parish have been clamoring for a Walk-On’s of their own for a long time, and we can’t wait to bring it to them.”

Walk-On’s is renowned for its signature menu featuring a taste of Louisiana served up in a game-day atmosphere by our All-American Team.

The 8,000-square-foot Prairieville restaurant is projected to open in mid-January, adding roughly 150 great new jobs to the local economy. It will feature a giant outdoor patio, more than 70 high-definition flat-screen TVs, nearly 50 beers on tap, a VIP room and banquet facilities. It will also be one of the first Walk-On’s to have a beer garden.

“This project has been a true labor of love,” said Harrison. “Ascension Parish is one of the fastest growing areas in the state, so it’s definitely time to introduce the folks here to Walk-On’s. We look forward to providing an awesome atmosphere for our guests while serving them delicious food as they cheer on their favorite teams.”

Harrison was raised in Assumption Parish and graduated from Nicholls State University. He recently retired following a 38-year career in law enforcement at the local, state and federal levels, culminating in a Presidential appointment as a United States Marshal. Holley, a Baton Rouge native, teamed with his wife, Melissa, to start and successfully expand the Skid Marks Tires & Auto Service chain from their home base in Gonzales.

Walk-On’s now has 12 locations: four in Baton Rouge, two in New Orleans, one each in Lafayette, Houma, Shreveport, Lake Charles and Bossier City, La., and one in Lubbock, Texas. Other locations are coming soon in Alabama, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, Tennessee and Texas, with several additional markets across the Southern U.S. likewise on the drawing board.

In May 2015, New Orleans Saints superstar Drew Brees and his wife, Brittany, bought into Walk-On’s Enterprises as co-owners. Drew pointed out that Walk-On’s is “a great place to bring my family, teammates and business colleagues” and that they were excited to help “expand the brand across the nation.”
