Captain D’s Promotes Company Veteran to Director Of Operations

October 03, 2017 // // NASHVILLE, Tenn. - Captain D’s, the leading fast casual seafood restaurant, announced that Summer Sims has been promoted to the position of Director of Operations. In her new role, Sims will be overseeing the operations and financial responsibilities of Alabama, Mississippi, Oklahoma, and Arkansas territories and helping to hire and develop talented professionals for these areas.

Sims’s career at Captain D’s spans over two decades, beginning with her first job as a Guest Specialist and placing her in every position in the restaurant operations arena: Hospitality Supervisor, Assistant General Manager, General Manager, Operations Standards Auditor, and Area Director. Her impressive results, coupled with her guest-centric drive and her people development focus, have garnered her several awards within the company, including “Best in District,” the “DO PRIDE” Award, two “Vice President PRIDE” awards, Best in Company Key P&L Rankings, as well as a coveted Company Values Award. She also serves as part of Captain D’s Area Director Mentor program.

“Our talented people are what drives our brand to its fullest potential,” said Phil Greifeld, president and chief executive officer of Captain D’s. “Summer epitomizes our core value of doing what is right for our guest and our brand every day. She has worked her way up in the company and has served as an excellent example of leadership and drive to each of the new team members she has nurtured along the way. The positive impact of our people and their potential is integral to the recent success and growth of Captain D’s.”

Captain D’s ongoing corporate and franchise development is fueled by the outstanding success the brand experienced in 2016, achieving its sixth consecutive year of same store sales increases and fourth successive year of record high system-wide average unit volume (AUV). This ongoing success has propelled Captain D’s franchise expansion, with agreements signed this year to open an additional 25 new restaurants in states across the country including Florida, South Carolina, Texas, Georgia, Illinois, Tennessee, Alabama, Arkansas and Virginia.

Coupled with its ongoing menu innovation, Captain D’s credits its new restaurant beach design with contributing to the brand’s ongoing strong performance. To date, nearly 70 percent of all restaurants have been reimaged to the brand’s new vibrant, coastal design, with another 50 locations to be remodeled by the end of this year. With these efforts, Captain D’s has remained true to what it does best - serving high-quality seafood with warm hospitality at an affordable price in a welcoming atmosphere.

With 525 restaurants in 21 states, Captain D’s is the fast-casual seafood leader and number one seafood franchise in America ranked by average unit volume. The company is currently seeking single- and multi-unit operators to join in the brand’s rapid expansion. For more information about franchise opportunities, visit or call 800-550-4877.
