New Scooter’s Coffee Location in Shawnee to Celebrate Grand Opening

75th & Nieman Location to Donate 100% of Proceeds on November 9 to The Victory Project

November 05, 2018 // Franchising.com // Shawnee, KS - Scooter’s Coffee, the Midwest-based coffee franchise that has experienced tremendous growth over the past year, increased its Kansas presence with the company’s latest opening at 11002 W 75th Street in Shawnee. The new location will host a Day of Giving as part of its Grand Opening celebration on Friday, November 9. On that day, 100% of proceeds will be donated to The Victory Project, an initiative from Sporting Kansas City that unites players, staff and fans to help children battling cancer. In addition, the store will also be offering half off any drink to customers.

This donation day is the eighth Day of Giving in a season-long collaboration in which Scooter’s Coffee will not only raise money for The Victory Project but also help raise awareness for the program.

“Together, Scooter’s Coffee and The Victory Project are able to have an incredible impact in our local community by supporting kids throughout their fight against cancer,” said Rob Thomson, Chief Communications Officer at Sporting KC. “It’s a phenomenal partnership and these donation days truly make a difference in the lives of children and families all across our region.”

To enhance the partnership, Scooter’s Coffee created #CoffeeKicksCancer days where 20% of proceeds from area Kansas City locations are donated to Sporting Club and the foundation.

“The opportunity to partner with a quality foundation like The Victory Project just made sense for myself and the brand. We see this as a great way to reach out to those in our community who are battling the difficult circumstance of childhood cancer. We want them to know that we care, and we are supporting them during a difficult time in their life,” stated Tracy Bouwens, one of the owners of Freedom Enterprises, which owns many Scooter’s Coffee Kansas City locations. “Most of us have been touched or affected by the struggles and heartache of cancer, whether it’s personally, a family member or a close friend. My mother-in-law passed away at the age of 45 from cancer. That was tough, to say the least. But when cancer affects a child, it is absolutely heart-wrenching.”

On Grand Opening Day, Friday, November 9, customers can expect to receive several fun giveaways:

  • 9 a.m. – First 100 customers will receive a free Scooter’s Coffee t-shirt with purchase
  • 3 p.m. – First 100 customers will receive a free $5 gift card with purchase

In line with their successful and robust grand opening strategy, Scooter’s Coffee recently opened five locations throughout Kansas and Missouri, opened the first of many locations in Arkansas and is opening additional locations in markets such as Phoenix, Arizona; Rapid City, South Dakota; Dallas, Texas; and Las Vegas, Nevada.

About The Victory Project

Sporting Club, the parent organization of Sporting Kansas City, launched The Victory Project in 2013 to tangibly impact the lives of children battling cancer. Since then, the foundation has raised over $1.5 million and supported families by covering basic household expenses, car payments and more when the financial strain of a cancer diagnosis sets in. The foundation’s newest and most impactful program, Sporting Wishes, was launched in 2017 in response to the reality that over 20 children annually are diagnosed with a secondary cancer or relapse in our community. Sporting Wishes gives these children an opportunity to take control of their happiness and make their dreams come true - whether it is swimming with dolphins, visiting a volcano or meeting their favorite Disney princess.
