New Goddard School In Edgewater Now Open

Owner’s Passion for Education Continues by Opening Preschool

February 11, 2019 // Franchising.com // EDGEWATER, MD - Dave Collins, who recently opened The Goddard School located in Edgewater, MD, with his wife, Jen, stuck by his passions for education.

Dave previously taught at an elementary school in upstate New York. He then managed the training program at the Sylvan Learning Center for 10 years, and helped Goddard School owners build and execute high-quality programs in schools across the country for six years. After nearly two decades of working in education, Dave knew it was time to open his own preschool.

“It has always been a dream of mine to take all of the ideas and best practices I have learned, and with the support of my wife and family, to open a school of my own,” Dave said. “Learning so many best practices over the years inspired me with confidence that if I were to use all that I learned and put the ideas into my own school, I could create the kind of environment for the families in Edgewater that I could be proud of.”

Dave and his wife, Jen, are now owners of the newest The Goddard School located in Edgewater, MD. They are bringing the latest Goddard School to the area to meet the demand for early childhood education options in a growing community.

The preschool, located at 110 East Central Avenue, officially opened on Tuesday, Feb. 5. The 10,871-square-foot preschool is newly contstructed and nearby residential communities and a shopping center. The preschool is serving up to 142 children ages six weeks to six years old with its unique play-based learning curriculum and offers several enrichment programs such as yoga, sign language, Spanish and chess.

At capacity, the school will employ 26 faculty members.

Dave and Jen are excited to be a part of the Edgewater community, by bringing a much-needed service to families living in the area.

“Our preschool in Edgewater is nestled into a few unique and wonderful communities,” Dave said. “Edgewater itself has a great character and spirit all its own! Many families have come to learn about our programs from Annapolis, South River Colony, Davidsonville and other surrounding towns.”

The Goddard School’s play-based F.L.EX.® Learning Program (Fun Learning Experience) is grounded in research on how children learn best: children experience the deepest, most genuine learning when they are having fun. The focus is on building each child’s emotional, academic, social, creative and physical skills to provide a well-rounded experience and ensure each one becomes confident, joyful and fully prepared in school and in life.

The preschool will be open Monday through Friday from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m.
