RockBox Fitness Swings Into Rock Hill

Charlotte-based business continues expansion wave into South Carolina

March 21, 2019 // // CHARLOTTE, N.C. - RockBox Fitness - the state-of-the-art fitness franchise that combines boxing, kickboxing, and functional training into high-energy group workouts - continues expanding through South Carolina. Along with two studios headed to Columbia, RockBox just added Rock Hill as its third location in development in The Palmetto State.

Located at 652 Herrons Ferry Road, the 3,100 square-foot studio will be owned and operated by entrepreneur Russ Hale. The new studio will open March 31, 2019 and will serve the surrounding communities of Fort Mill and Tega Cay.

“RockBox is life changing - it took only a few classes for me to see my life transform and I can’t wait to be a part of other people’s transformations too, “expressed Hale. “RockBox uses a holistic approach to help members achieve their goals. First and foremost, we focus on why someone is there and build their plan for success from there. I am excited to be a part of RockBox’s expansion and bring our fitness philosophy to Rock Hill.”

A natural entrepreneur by trade, Hale owns and operates a landscaping business as well as a rental property company. Combining his entrepreneurial spirit, business practices, and passion for customer service Hale plans for his studio to become the go-to referred fitness location of Rock Hill.

“As a product of RockBox, I believe in what they offer people,” said Hale. “This is a brand that pushes people to be successful in the gym and in their everyday life. My mission with this studio is to gain new members based on referrals. I want people to come to RockBox because people believe in us, and we’ll accomplish this through building personal relationships with each of our future members.”

Founded in 2017 and franchising since early 2018, RockBox Fitness was built to avoid the No. 1 problem with any fitness program - boredom. The studios feature all the boxing equipment and heavy bags one would expect for a boxing- and kickboxing-based workout, plus an array of functional training tools like kettle bells, battle ropes and sleds (elliptical and treadmill machines need not apply). In addition, the studios are equipped with high-end sound systems to rock the tunes that keep members pumped and pushing hard. Color-adaptive lighting is also used to cue another level of psychological motivation. When the lights change, so does the intensity.

“We take fitness to a whole new level,” said Roger Martin, Co-Founder of RockBox Fitness. “Bootcamps and circuit training can sometimes grow stale and boring for participants. We don’t believe that creates long-term results. We’ve implemented the perfect variety of equipment to allow our members to achieve a full-body, goal-smashing, life-changing workout. We’ve helped tired moms experience new stamina, young professionals radiate confidence and fathers re-energize and re-engage.”

RockBox’s trainers make up the expertise and the passion that drives the workouts. Each trainer is professionally certified, accredited and has years-upon-years of experience boxing and kickboxing.

With seven locations already open and operating in North Carolina, company plans call for having as many as 200 total units across the country by 2024. Franchise development agreements have already been signed for more than 20 studios throughout Arizona, California, Georgia, North Carolina, Tennessee and now South Carolina.
