Krystal a Winner in 2019 USA TODAY 10Best Readers’ Choice Award Contest

South’s original fast-food restaurant announces Customer Appreciation Day in Chattanooga

April 19, 2019 // Franchising.com // ATLANTA - The Krystal Company, a Southern favorite known for its square, steamed burgers, Pups and Chiks, is a winner in the 2019 USA Today 10Best Readers’ Choice travel award contest for Best Regional Fast Food. To celebrate the award and thank customers in Krystal’s birthplace, the company is offering Original Krystals for 50 cents each on Tuesday, April 30 at participating locations in the Chattanooga market from 6 a.m. until midnight while supplies last.

“Being selected to USA Today’s Top-10Best Regional Fast Food List is huge for us,” said Paul Macaluso, Krystal president and CEO. “We want to thank our customers in the market where it all began with 50-cent burgers on Customer Appreciation Day in Chattanooga.”

Award nominees were chosen by a team of 10Best’s local travel experts who provide users with travel content from their experiences including attractions, restaurants and activities in top destinations across America and around the world. Contest rules allowed the public the right to vote online for one nominee per day for four weeks. All nominees are located within one primary geographic area in the United States. The top ten winners are Habit Burger, Pal’s Sudden Service, Whataburger, Sheetz, In-N-Out Burger, Quaker Steak & Lube, Cook Out, Krystal, Culver’s and Biscuitville.

Krystal was born in Chattanooga during the Great Depression and is the second-oldest QSR in the country. Now headquartered in Atlanta with over 350 locations in 11 states throughout the Southeast, Krystal is America’s second oldest quick-service restaurant. Menu items are small, snackable, sharable and playfully Southern.

“The Krystal experience is unique. It’s something you can’t get anywhere else,” Macaluso said. “We’re proud of our heritage as the South’s first fast-food brand. People come from all over to taste our iconic Krystal burgers, and this award is both validation for our brand and a tribute to our loyal fan base.”
