New Owners and New Look For Birmingham Area Jersey Mike's Subs

October 21, 2019 // Franchising.com // VESTAVIA HILLS, Ala. - Jersey Mike’s Subs, known for its fresh sliced/fresh grilled subs, is being transformed in the Birmingham area with new ownership and a brand new look.

The first of the three area locations will reopen in Vestavia Hills on Wednesday, October 16, with the Hoover and Mountain Brook locations following soon after.

The new franchise owners Kimberly and Angelo Crowell, a wife/husband team, are passionate award-winning Jersey Mike’s operators. The new restaurant, located at 1031 Montgomery Hwy., held a grand opening and free sub fundraiser from Wednesday, October 16 to Sunday, October 20 to support The Exceptional Foundation. They circulated 7,500 coupons throughout the community offering a free regular sub for a minimum $2 contribution to the charity.

Angelo, a former NFL linebacker, started eating at Jersey Mike’s at age 16, and loved the shop’s friendly banter and involvement in the local community.

“I got to know the owner well, and as an inquisitive kid, I asked him, ‘How do you own one of these?’ and when I finished playing football, and was looking at franchise opportunities, Jersey Mike’s was at the top of the list,” Angelo said. “Kim and I are committed to operational excellence, and welcome the community to stop in to see our brand new design and enjoy the best sub sandwich on the planet.”

The Crowells opened their first Jersey Mike’s in 2010, and now own 29 locations in Florida, Alabama and Georgia. They look forward to bringing the Birmingham shops into their “sub” family.
