Goldfish Swim School Wins Three Stevie® Awards at 16th Annual International Business Awards®
Premier Learn-to-Swim Franchise Takes Home One Gold and Two Bronze Stevie® Awards
December 03, 2019 // Franchising.com // TROY, Mich. - Goldfish Swim School Franchising, LLC, the premier learn-to-swim franchise concept, was recently awarded three Stevie® Awards. The Gold Stevie® Award recognized Goldfish Swim School’s excellence in “Workplace Design,” a Bronze Stevie® Award was presented to brand co-founder Jenny McCuiston for “Woman of the Year - Franchising,” and the brand’s Vice President of Marketing, Shana Krisan, walked away with a Bronze Stevie® in the “Woman of the Year - Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations” category.
This year, the International Business Awards® and the Stevie® Awards for Women in Business both pulled in more than 5,500 nominations across all categories with winners determined by votes from a pool of international executives. Goldfish Swim School won its Gold Stevie® based on its newly designed headquarters, which both embodies its innovative culture and supports the brand’s growth as Goldfish Swim School nears its milestone 100th school opening.
Prior to designing the new office, Goldfish Swim School’s headquarters was spread out across a multi-use building. With steady franchise growth underway, the brand needed a hub for franchisees to complete training for their new business ventures and for the franchise office team to feel creative and unified. An open concept, glass walls, vibrant colors, an indoor pool heated to the brand’s 90-degree standard, and Apple TVs in each meeting room promote more team-based work collaboration across departments when it comes to launching new programs, campaigns and community partnerships.
Jenny McCuiston was awarded the Bronze Stevie® for her notable work in developing a one-of-a-kind curriculum, The Science of SwimPlay®. The comprehensive curriculum is dynamic - a great mix of exercise, drills and games - to help children have fun while learning the core tenants of swimming, ultimately helping to reduce the risk of drowning for children across the country. The structured program makes it easy to use at every Goldfish Swim School franchise. In looking to make an even larger impact, Jenny McCuiston also spearheaded the brand’s partnership with USA Swimming Foundation in order to support their Make a Splash initiative, kicking off the brand’s award-winning Float It Forward cause marketing campaign. Goldfish Swim School runs several fundraiser campaigns throughout the year to raise money and awareness, and help the organization provide the opportunity to learn to swim to even more children.
“There are a lot of strong women leading the charge in the franchise community, so I feel incredibly honored to not only receive this award but to work alongside Shana, whose hard work was also recognized. It’s one thing to provide an excellent service, but it’s another to touch the lives of those you serve, which is something we strive to do every single day,” said Jenny McCuiston, Co-Founder of Goldfish Swim School. “Taking home the Gold for workplace design is the cherry on top, considering the amount of time and care we took in planning every inch of our new space. I can confidently say the design of our office has not only made our team happier, but more collaborative. In our quest to develop a space that was great for training and innovating, we did just that. It’s a great feeling to know that we’re rapidly growing with a stable base here at home,” added Chris McCuiston, CEO & Co-Founder of Goldfish Swim School.
Following an impressive year for the brand, Shana Krisan also earned a Bronze Stevie® Award. After building a robust internal marketing team, Krisan worked to integrate digital marketing technology to help grow consumer awareness, engagement and brand loyalty, earning the organization the first ever Best Digital Campaign Award presented by Franchise Update Media. She also utilized and conducted market research to help the brand’s franchisees thrive in their respective markets. The Bronze Stevie® recognizes Krisan’s role in helping Goldfish Swim School positively impact the communities it serves through marketing campaigns and initiatives such as Float It Forward and Goldfish RX, while also helping the organization to live its core values - a key determining factor for the “Woman of the Year - Advertising, Marketing & Public Relations” award. Within 2019 alone, the marketing team’s campaigns raised more than $200,000 dollars for Float it Forward and the USA Swimming Foundation.
