Potbelly Sandwich Shop to Open Cary Location

Multi-Unit Franchisees Sign Lease to Bring Third Potbelly Shop to the Triangle as Brand Continues Franchise Growth

January 26, 2021 // Franchising.com // CARY, N.C. - Potbelly Sandwich Shop (Potbelly) announced today that it will open a new franchise location in Cary. It is set to become the brand’s third shop in the Triangle and the eighth in the state of North Carolina.

The new location will be conveniently situated at 1108 Parkside Main St. in Cary. It will be located in the Parkside Town Commons shopping mall, a well-known shopping and entertainment hub in Cary. Franchisees Mohit Kishore and Tulshi Bhakar recently finalized the lease for the shop, with plans to open in April.

“Community members in the Triangle have welcomed Potbelly with open arms over the last couple of years – first with our shop in Morrisville and then with our recent opening in Durham,” said Kishore, a Cary resident himself. “We’re excited to continue the momentum as we grow into Cary and even more of the community is introduced to our delicious sandwiches, soups and shakes.”

Kishore and Bhakar most recently opened a location in the Triangle in Durham, North Carolina in July 2020 and also have an existing location in Morrisville, North Carolina that opened in 2017. The group plans to open at least one more shop in the Raleigh/Durham market as part of their multi-unit franchise agreement. With more than 25 years of restaurant industry experience, Kishore is well suited for multi-unit franchise ownership and operations.

“Through the successful openings of their first two locations in North Carolina, Mohit and Tulshi have proven that they are a great fit to open more locations in the area,” said Potbelly CEO Bob Wright. “The pair’s deep connection to the communities they operate in, coupled with Mohit’s extensive background in the restaurant industry is a major component in how their shops have been able to perform. We’re eager to see them serve customers in Cary next!”

In addition to the Triangle region, Potbelly is expanding the brand through franchising along the eastern section of the state and down into South Carolina. Multi-unit franchisees Brent and Michele Brouse opened a location in Wilmington in July 2020 as part of their franchise deal that includes plans for 13 new shops in cities such as Fayetteville and Wilmington in North Carolina, and Myrtle Beach in South Carolina. Potbelly continues to attract franchisees because of its reputation for having delicious food and a warm, neighborhood atmosphere.

As Potbelly expands with skilled franchisees such as Kishore and Bhakar, the brand will be awarding franchise opportunities to qualified multi-unit groups who are looking to add the concept to their portfolios.
