Perkins Begins New Chapter in Edinboro with Restaurant Reopening

Brand’s Largest Franchise Operating Group JDK Management Leads Opening Effort and Erie County Growth

May 21, 2021 // Franchising.com // ATLANTA - Perkins Restaurant & Bakery, the quintessential community mealtime gathering place, recently announced that it is reopening its location in Edinboro, Pennsylvania, which had been shuttered for six years. After a devastating building fire in 2015 that forced the restaurant to close, the forthcoming location is returning to the area at 207 W. Plum Street and opening on Monday, May 24.

The new restaurant is locally owned and operated by JDK Management, Perkins’ largest multi-unit operating group with more than three decades of restaurant industry experience. Russell Berner, Vice President of Restaurant Operations for the group, will help facilitate the Edinboro opening, which marks JDK Management’s 49th Perkins location to date.

“We could not be more honored to bring Perkins back to Edinboro, especially as the community craves more all-day breakfast and bakery options,” said Berner. “Perkins has been a beloved gathering place for families, colleagues, college students and travelers in the community since the 1970s, and we’re eager to reconnect with residents while providing homestyle meals for them to enjoy together once again.”

In addition to Berner, Senior Operations Manager Tracy Hinckle will handle daily operations along with Edinboro native Dan Sayers as the general manager. The localized team looks forward to participating in the restaurant’s long-awaited homecoming.

“The JDK Management team’s strong work ethic and established reputation for helping to grow the brand throughout the years makes them the perfect group to welcome Perkins back to Edinboro,” said Peter Ortiz, Chief Development Officer of Perkins. “We’re proud to partner with Russell and JDK Management as we reenter the community and look forward to supporting the group’s continued growth in Erie County.”

Perkins restaurants have earned widespread adoration in their communities for their warm, friendly atmospheres where every conversation, sip of coffee and bite of home-cooked meals are savored. Known for its delicious baked goods, from whole pies to Mammoth Muffins®, the new Perkins in Edinboro will provide customers with generous portions of flavorful, hearty entrees for breakfast, lunch, or dinner at a great value. The restaurant’s most recent Strawberry Fresh-tival menu will also be available both at the returning location and throughout all Perkins restaurants nationwide through the end of June.
