Bad Ass Coffee Of Hawaii To Host Grand Opening Celebration In Denver

November 10, 2021 // Franchising.com // COLORADO - Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii, a national franchise company headquartered in Centennial, will commemorate the grand opening of its first Colorado location, 2990 N. Speer Blvd. in Denver, Saturday, November 13 through Monday, November 15.

The celebration will kick off Saturday at 9 a.m. with a ribbon cutting ceremony and will be followed by three mornings of menu sampling and games with prizes such as Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii mugs, shirts, lanyards, keychains and more.

Guests can also receive a free medium drink when they download the Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii app and join ‘Ohana Rewards. There is also an Instagram contest (@badasscoffeehighlands) offering a chance to win free coffee for a year.

Each day of the grand opening will feature a different giveaway for the first 89 guests, with purchase, as follows:

  • Shaka Saturday - Free Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii mug, 9 a.m. to noon
  • Ohana Sunday - Free Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii t-shirt, 9 a.m. to noon
  • Mahalo Monday - Free Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii tumbler, 7 a.m. to 10 a.m.

The quantity of 89 is a nod to the year 1989, when the coffee company originated on the Big Island of Hawaii. Its name pays tribute to a very important animal in Hawaiian coffee history: The Donkey. Legend has it that for generations, the donkeys of Kona, Hawaii could be heard bellowing as they carried precious loads of coffee beans down the steep mountains of the Big Island. The native people of Kona named these hard-working donkeys the “Bad Ass Ones” because of their reliably strong, but stubborn nature in carrying their precious cargo.

In further support of the beloved donkey, Bad Ass Coffee of Hawaii will donate 10% of grand opening sales to Longhopes Donkey Shelter. Located in Bennett, Colo., Longhopes Donkey Shelter has rehabilitated and rehomed unwanted donkeys at risk of destruction for more than 20 years. In Colorado, donkeys played a key role in early mining activities, just as Hawaiian donkeys did for coffee.
