Titus Center for Franchising Celebrates Historic Franchise Education Milestone Achieved at the 2022 IFA Convention
Joint franchise education exhibit put on by Titus Center’s Dr. John Hayes and other leading franchise educators marks an important first for franchise expos
March 16, 2022 // Franchising.com // WEST PALM BEACH, Florida - Palm Beach Atlantic University’s Titus Center for Franchising - in association with the recently-formed Franchise Educators’ Consortium - made franchise education history at the recent International Franchise Association (IFA) convention in San Diego, CA, by exhibiting jointly alongside other prominent institutions dedicated to franchise education. This marks the first time in franchising history that numerous franchise educators have collaboratively participated in a franchise expo, conveying the growing focus on educating the next franchise generation.
Leading the consortium’s joint IFA exhibit alongside Titus Center’s Dr. John Hayes was Dr. Ben Litalien of Georgetown University, Dr. Kathleen Gosser of University of Louisville’s Yum! Global Center for Franchising and AB Ingram of Babson University’s Tariq Farid Franchise Center.
“All of the educators who participated in the convention are grateful to the IFA for allowing us to exhibit jointly. This was also a good way to show the franchise community what’s happening for franchise education in the U.S.,” said Dr. John Hayes, organizer of the consortium, director of the Titus Center for Franchising and professor of business and mass communications. “We are grateful for the opportunity to educate and share the exciting outlook of franchising. By educating aspiring entrepreneurs, we can open the door of franchising to them. Franchising is one of the most important pieces to our economic success in the U.S. and offers endless opportunities to entrepreneurs.”
The Franchise Educators’ Consortium was launched as an initiative uniting educators who teach franchising. Since its recent inception, the group has already won the support of the IFA, and members of the consortium presented an update about franchise education at the IFA’s Board of Directors meeting during the convention. The consortium also has formed the Intercollegiate Franchise Network, which provides online conferences for students of member universities.

About The Titus Center For Franchising
Founded in 2017, the Titus Center for Franchising is housed in the Rinker School of Business at Palm Beach Atlantic University in West Palm Beach, FL. It’s the only center of its kind dedicated to franchising; students complete 12 credit hours to earn a concentration in franchising as part of a business degree in marketing or management. The center was endowed by franchisor Ray Titus, founder and CEO of United Franchise Group, who gave the university a $1.5 million gift. The center is dedicated to educating people about franchising and preparing them to become employees of franchise companies, franchisees and franchisors. Dr. John P. Hayes is the director.
