Mobile Franchise Expands in Arizona Giving Back to Community Schools and Organizations

“Since launching earlier this year, we’ve already given back over $2,200 to the community,” said Brian Bohne, co-owner of Kona Ice of Surprise alongside his wife, Sharen Bohne. “We’ve loved working the Kona truck and greatly enjoy making people smile. We have the opportunity to work year round here in Arizona because it’s so hot, and everyone loves to cool down with shaved ice!”

Kona Ice’s escape from the ordinary begins as the sounds of tropical calypso music fills the air at each event and group gathering. The fun continues as all in attendance get their overflowing cups of freshly shaved ice and then help themselves to any of the ten tastes on the truck’s Flavorwave™, Kona’s innovative self-service dispensing system that allows for full customization. Guests also have the option to choose from the additional 20-plus flavors and 500 different combinations offered.

“Whenever we attend events, kids and families love us!” said Sharen. “We’ve been going door to door delivering fliers and talking to people in the community to get the word out about this delicious business, and we’ve found a lot of success so far. We plan to grow the business in our area and look forward to delivering more smiles across the community.”
