Teriyaki Madness Is Woking and Rolling; Bowls Over Mid-Year Expectations with Sizzling Success

With 45 units awarded and a 21% increase in same-store sales, the fast casual teriyaki shop concept continues to expand its footprint and enhance customer experience.

September 13, 2023 // Franchising.com // DENVER, CO – Teriyaki Madness, the leading fast casual teriyaki concept with over 130 locations, is celebrating a successful first half of 2023 with significant growth and innovation. The brand has opened 10 new locations and awarded 45 units this year, marking a significant increase in its footprint across the United States. The company has also seen a 21% year-over-year systemwide sales increase and achieved an impressive franchise average unit volume (AUV) of $1,105,186*, demonstrating its resilience and adaptability in the face of changing market conditions. Year-to-date, TMAD has also seen its catering sales skyrocket a whopping 159% year-over-year (which was already rolling over huge increases in 2022 over 2021).

Fueled by this momentum, Teriyaki Madness has spent the past six months spreading the Madness with signings to bring the brand to new markets all over the U.S., including new markets like Fort Collins and Colorado Springs, Colorado, and Harlem, New York; they’ve also sold shops in emerging markets such as Hollywood, CA, Salt Lake City, UT, Madison, WI and more.

The brand has also introduced Flybuy, a new piece of technology to add to their already best-in-class ‘tech stack’, to enhance its advanced pickup, delivery and curbside programs. Integrated into the existing Teriyaki Madness app, This technology is part of Teriyaki Madness's vision to be "Faster Than a Drive Thru!™" and to allow franchisees to improve the overall customer experience.

But TMAD isn’t resting on its laurels - the team has spent the first half of the year making significant strides in optimizing profitability through operations for franchisees, with improvements in P&Ls, labor scheduling, product making, communication and team training through the company’s Mad U online training platform.
