Zips Cleaners Arrives in Charlotte

May 21, 2025 // Franchising.com // CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The pride of looking your best in clean and pressed clothes and the satisfying embrace of sleeping under fresh bedding are now much more within reach for people in Charlotte, thanks to last week’s opening of North Carolina’s first ZIPS Cleaners here at 4115 Monroe Rd. (State Road 1009). Arrival of the ZIPS Cleaners brand brings homes and businesses in Charlotte low-cost, quick-turnaround dry cleaning as well as equally economical Wash N Fold laundry, pressed laundry, alterations, cleaning of bedding and other household items and commercial cleaning services for uniforms, linens and other items. The new store will be open Mondays through Fridays from 7am to 8pm, Saturdays from 8am to 8pm, and closed on Sundays. A convenient 24/7 EZ Drop door allows customers to deposit their belongings in pre-tagged bags during or after opening hours, while inside the store, twin self-service kiosks help time-pressed customers speed through the pickup and drop-off process. Delivery of cleaned items is also available via DoorDash®.

ZIPS Cleaners has become a preferred resource for those wanting to take care of their everyday and special occasion clothing, as well as bedding and household items, uniforms, flags and other items, without breaking the bank. The brand is popularized by its transparent and low $3.49 price to dry clean any item, and its same-day guarantee for items dropped off by 9am.

Local residents were lined up waiting for the new store to open last Thursday, including William Chiseholm, a devoted ZIPS Cleaners customer from his days livig in his previous home of Gambrills, Md. Now living in Mint Hill, Chiseholm was delighted to see the ZIPS sign appear in Charlotte. He drove half an hour to bring in his clothes to the new location.

“Welcome, welcome, welcome! I’ve been waiting for you to arrive. I spent 31 years of my life in the DMV area, and when I heard that you were coming to town, I got excited because I’m a big customer of ZIPS,” he said.

This is the first ZIPS Cleaners location for brothers Visesh and Vishal Velagapudi, who previously worked together helping their father operate and grow his Maryland-based restaurant chain, Stokos. The Velagapudis plan to open seven more ZIPS Cleaners locations throughout Charlotte and the surrounding area over the next several years. They are delighted to be behind bringing the brand to Charlotte.

To celebrate its arrival, ZIPS Cleaners of Charlotte distributed welcome bags containing stain sticks and bounceback (future purchase) coupons to its first 200 guests. A QR code displayed on a stanchion sign in the front of the store offered visitors the opportunity to register to win $50 worth of free dry cleaning, and those who enroll in the ZIPS Cleaners marketing database will be emailed discounts such as for $2.49 for dry cleaning (a savings of $1.00 per item on ZIPS Cleaners’ already famously low price to dry clean any item) and $14.99 to clean comforters (a savings of $10 off the standard price). Throughout May, all 70+ ZIPS Cleaners are also offering a 10% discount on uniform cleaning to active-duty and veteran members of the military with valid ID.
